What Project Managers Want To Hear From Their Team Members
How you can prevent pesky project management
Whether you’re a remote team of two or a distributed team of 300, communication is key to getting work done.
You want your team to communicate and ask for help, especially when they’re stuck. You don’t want to micromanage and hover over their shoulder while they do the work.
Instead, give them space, allow them to fail (and learn) and be there when they need help or have a question.
And if you want to be a hero for your project manager and help them out with communication, here is a list of things project managers want to hear from their team members.
“What are we doing today?”
Team members should know their own tasks and be clear on what they need to work on. This will ensure they don’t spend too much time working on things that aren’t necessary or important.
“What are you working on?”
A project manager should be able to understand the status of a project by asking this question. It’s important for team members to communicate with the project manager so that he or she can have an idea where the team is headed.
