If you work on agile software development team, chances are you have engaged in your fair share of philosophical debates about agile practices.

One does not have to look too far to find endless theories on estimation, prioritization, dates, roles, documentation and on and on.

Yes agile is a mindset. Yes agile is based on guiding principles and values. But when it comes to getting work done, philosophical banter can be a roadblock to your team’s progress.

What is a philosophical conversation?

A philosophical discussion is a quest to think deeper and engage in logical debate to arrive at a better understanding of a situation or question.

Agile has no shortage of debates in its community of followers. Even the word agile itself heartily debated.

Is it Agile with a capital “A” or agile with a small “a”?

Or take a gander in the twitterverse and scroll the endless see of advocates for #noestimates.

This is healthy in teams. Gathering input and insights on different approaches to working is beneficial…
