If you are building a product and looking to serve an audience, there are three core questions you must answer.

Who is your customer?

Who is the specific person that your product is for.

  • What is their name?
  • Where do they live?
  • What are they interested in?

Those are sub-questions to answer the main question. But you get the point. You have a product. Who is it for?

If you make custom t-shirts, are they for employees in a large corporation, or are they for the anti-establishment college freshman that wants to wear his opinions on his chest? You must decide.

What are they ready to buy?

What do they want and need. Here’s a hint, what are they already opening up their wallet for. Today’s purchasing behavior says a lot.
