I was almost run over by a biker.

I know what you’re thinking.

Did you look twice?

Before I answer, here’s what I learned.

My senses failed me, but timing saved me.

I was on the last leg of a run. I had started to make the turn home, but I didn’t look behind.

Out of nowhere, a biker blew past me.

I never heard him coming. Even if I had looked, I wouldn’t have seen him. He was moving that fast.

We didn’t speak, both realizing the accident we avoided.

Now, here is what I learned.

Even bad decisions can lead to good results

Decisions matter, and sometimes even bad decisions lead to good results.

I didn’t get flattened because timing matters too.

It was dumb luck.
