You need a product plan to succeed.

Unfortunately it’s hard. Defining your product vision and direction plus key metrics and actions for success can be an enormous undertaking.

The problem with jumping into creating a plan is that you might be doing these top 3 time-wasting mistakes that could be causing delays

Mistake # 1 — The tendency to make things unnecessarily complicated

The problem with most product plans is that they are usually way too complicated.

They have so many steps and phases that you start second guessing yourself, which leads to procrastination. Product plans need to be simple. If a plan is too long you will never get it done.

To make your product plan less complicated, focus on less.

It’s sounds counterintuitive, but eliminating, consolidating, and de-prioritizing work will help you drive clarity and keep things simple.

The easiest way to do this is to create a parts bin for all the things you want to do, then close the bin. Only go to the parts bin when need something new to work on.

Mistake # 2 — Relying solely on data to make decisions
